It depends on various factors, such as how full the flight is. A full 787 might have 70% seats unassigned when check-in opens, and
everyone gains the ability to select a seat for free. So if you check in as soon as possible, you can probably get two together.
If you show up at T-50, having not checked in, then good luck.
They won't deliberately seat you apart, but if there are no two together when you check in, there's nothing you can do about it.
