I think much of my apprehension (which caused me to post here tonight) was that when I was younger and flying YYZ TB for the first time, I totally missed the MLL after CBP and went down the escalator (if there is one) and got even more lost lol

Just to make sure it is from the main preclearance rather than the connection? Because you mentioned a U turn which I believe is what takes you from the connection clearance to the MLL.
Edit: I believe the connection preclearance loops back to the main clearance and they lead to the same entrance to the gate. So this point is moot.
