I tend to pull out the phone plug out of the phone and then plug it in when I need to call for something :-)

i will complain to front desk after I have an experience of housekeeping disrupting my slumber while the DND (or Occupied) sign is outside the room. That’s assuming that the sign is still there because I’m sure that kids who press the Floor buttons in the elevators and press the call buttons for elevators would gladly take the DND signs.
