I have had hotel housekeepers call my hotel rooms because they found the DND sign on the doors (and perhaps couldn’t get in for other reasons). It has happened enough to me with DND signs on that I sometimes consider pulling the phone plug only to notice that the phone plug has already been pulled by someone else.
