It (almost) did what was needed, but not the best stay

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked King Standard, Received the same

How are the rooms?
Not bad. Spacious - slightly tired and dark design but comfortable, good storage and in-room safe

How is the exec. lounge?
N/A

What was good and what was bad?
Door lock didn't work well - it was possible to open the door by just pushing it. They were able to partially resolve but I had to lift the door as it was closing
No room upgrade but as stated before, rooms are quite nice. Unfortunately, my room was at the far end of the building so it had some road noise from the 101
Pool looked really inviting but was not heated
Diamond breakfast was only offered for one day of my two day stay. Didn't bother arguing as I was meeting family on the other day but this is obviously not in line with the IHG rules. The Diamond breakfast was a specific sub-set of the menu with one drink - anything else was chargeable. However, breakfast server was excellent

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Good value compared to other properties in the area. I might return (this is my second stay here - first was a lot better). I don't think IHG really have any good hotels in the area unfortunately
