This isn't unique to CX. I have also had a Coach(I) on a JL award HND-JFK flight that was moved forward a day. JL canceled DEL-HND and automatically put me on the same flight the next day. The only issue was that I was now arriving in HND 20 hours after my HND-JFK departure. AS requested to move HND-JFK ahead a day. The responded and it was all wrapped up & ticketed in 4 hours.
