In fact, I had a stay there in late June (shortly before I was made up to Diamond) and several members of staff remarked to me that Diamonds were given lounge access as a matter of course.

So it was something of a surprise when I went back in July (as a Diamond) only to be told that Diamonds weren't allowed to use the lounge. It turned out that in the week prior the GM had come back from his summer holiday and instituted a new policy of excluding comp lounge access to Diamonds. His logic was if they now get free breakfast then there's no reason they should get lounge access also.
