Fair enough. But just because you might not be able to fly JL in both directions, does not mean that you cannot fly JL in one.
And if you were to book two awards on QR to fly through DOH in one direction, and availability on JL should subsequently open up, you could just book the JL option, and then immediately cancel the QR awards: all AAdvantage flight awards are now fully refundable up until time of departure.
