In a couple of days, I am flying QR Business Class JNB-DOH-AMS (on 1 ticket) then BA AMS-LCY(on a separate ticket).

From my last (and only) experience of a similar trip (but TXL instead of AMS), QR said they would send my bags straight through to LCY, but they were never loaded onto my BA flight and arrived a couple days after I did, with much frustration in between.

Does anyone have experience with this? Was I just unlucky that my first time interlining bags resulted in luggage going missing, or is it just really unreliable, perhaps because BA doesn’t really interline luggage themselves?

I should have time to collect my luggage in AMS and proceed to check in, however my luggage will exceed my EU duty free allowance, but not my UK allowance, so I would prefer getting my bags sent straight to London.
