I suspect that 1D is lucky that the FAs wanted to keep the plane more or less on schedule. Removing a passenger and their checked bags from the plane could cause enough of a delay to be problematic for operations and other passengers.
As a passenger, I would have gladly taken a reasonable delay to just watch (and upload to Instagram) these two morons being frogmarched off the flight.
