jbalmuth - thank you! While I did know it was Thanksgiving week, I did not realize that by adding the leg to PDX it was tanking my search because of Thanksgiving. I had tried dropping the SIN to HKG leg not the PDX one. If I grab the YVR one we can just Amtrack home if needed. By removing any in North American connections from my searches, the calendar now lights up like a Christmas tree with availability.
keep in mind that since you can change your itinerary as often as you like with no fees, you can lock in the long hauls now and still keep an eye on the domestic legs in case something does open up later.
