It seems to me I remember reading somewhere that there are disadvantages of an executive platinum and gold person being on same itinerary. Is that the case?

The reason I am asking is I am going to hit executive platinum and debating about gifting my wife gold status. She is highly unlikely to ever hit gold on her own with at most 6 domestic and 1 international trip per year. (I need every loyalty point I can get to hit exec plat, so don't want to send any points her way to get here there) Most of her trips, she is with me so status is of little value. But she did fly 3 times last year without me (I am guessing only twice this year), so gold would give her some value.

Any thoughts or advice?
