Detailed review of my stay in December 2022

What is your IHG One Rewards status?
Diamond Inner Circle Royal Ambassador

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay ?
Yes.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked cheapest rate, and received the Royal Suite.

How are the rooms?
Huge!
250 sqm large

Bedroom with huge and comfortable bed.
  • Seating area with Charles et Ray Eames lounge chair.
  • Bang & Olufsen Beoplay A9 Bluetooth sound system (just perfect to connect the iPad and watch a movie or listen to your music)
  • Large curved Samsung television set with good selection of cable channels.
  • No Chromecast.
  • Amazing Ogawa massage chair (just perfect after a long day walking around the city).
  • Electric curtain opener
  • Usb and power sockets next to the bed.

Very nice and large marble bathroom separate walk-in shower and Jacuzzi.
Byredo Bal d’Afrique toiletries.

Separate toilets with Toto Washlet.

Illy coffee espresso machine, kettle.

Massive living room with dining area, sitting area.
Open bar.

Kitchen with microwave, wine cooler, espresso machine.

Very quiet.

View over the city.

PressReader free access.

How is the exec. lounge?
Quite nice.

Dining area around buffet and cooking station.
Seating area
Mezzanine floor with seating area and meeting room.
Balcony

Very good breakfast with à la carte eggs menu (I also tried the breakfast at main restaurant: wider choice but definitely not as exclusive atmosphere, even if I was impressed by efficiency of the service, despite the huge number of guests).

Afternoon tea with fresh juices, (delicious) biscuits.

Evening cold/hot options (hot options and pastries may be disappointing).

Staff is friendly but service can be sometimes rather disorganized.

Club InterContinental comes with complementary laundry and pressing service up to 3 pieces per day.

What was good and what was bad?
Good
- Convenient location (just opposite Ampang Park metro station, 2 minutes from Persiaran KLCC MRT station, and free Go KL City Green bus line)
- Pleasant club lounge
- Pretty nice pool area (but it can be noisy because of construction works and air conditioning units nearby)
- Massive and very comfortable suite.

Bad
- Nothing.

Value for $ or IHG One Rewards Point? Would you return?
Yes.

The quality of service at the hotel is not at the level of the one received at other best Asian InterContinental hotels (but quite the same issue with other luxury hotels in Kuala Lumpur), but the property is solid and pleasant, and I enjoyed very much the city of Kuala Lumpur.

I have the opportunity to meet the GM: she definitely has the energy and the talent to make the InterContinental Kuala Lumpur a very enjoyable property.

Still, it will be interesting to see soon the offer at future Indigo, Kimpton and Regent properties.
