i flew YYZ-YVR-BKK dec26 and due to ac121 being delayed a total of 3h due to a problem with the cargo loader and some lady having a tickle in her heart delaying us for paramedics on the ground my YVR connection was down to a running to gate so i also missed out on the S.S lounge
However thats travel in Canada in the winter post covid dealing with airports that have staffing issues and an airline that has limited competition.
The hard product of AC is great. The meal service is 'bland' lacking destination specific inspiration however i find it consistent. The 4 meal choices i had on both flights were all appetizing. Booze was flowing as i wanted it and the FA's understood im an amateur alcoholic and didn't hold me back. I don't expect a 5-star restaurant in the sky
Ive flown other airlines notably Thai and i find their post-covid onboard offerings lacking i.e. only a choice between 2 seafood dishes for dinner BKK-CPH, warm Singha, instant coffee in a pot
The FA's on my YVR-BKK seemed to be the more senior Kathy's and Carol's but were pleasant. Remember this is a 15h30m redeye so most passengers are sleeping and dont want to be disturbed; if you want something use the call bell
As for AC not providing Thai language FA's for a Dec-March one-off test offering I can understand; if this flight were to become a regular they may try and add that. My question though is how many people are flying YVR-BKK route and dont speak enough english to get through a flight...
I think its a great offering and hope it stays. Yes the price is extreme but i got my flight with some Aeroplan switch trickery. I assume its a very profitable route but maybe not all the way into April. I dont think there is any *A airline that can offer a BKK-N.America flight as TG isnt FAA certified afaik and wouldn't have alternate airports, United probably cant spare a 787-9 and a landing slot at an airport in range but im not sure about that and would united actually be better
