Just completed a three night stay at Seabird - my first following two stays earlier in the year at Mission Pacific.

I had a minor SNAFU just before checkin: I’d originally booked using points, but the rate had come down to just a hair over $300 per night the day before arrival so I decided to switch to cash and save my points for another time. I’d already used a TSU and confirmed with Hyatt that I’d keep the room if they adjusted the rate from points to cash. They assured me it’d be no problem; however, as soon as the rate was changed the TSU re-appeared in my account and my reservation showed city view king. I reached out to the property directly via text (the number appeared in the app) and they fixed it for me within minutes, which I really appreciated since that room type no longer showed for sale on Hyatt.com.

I arrived around 5PM and was checked in quickly with 4PM checkout proactively offered. Sparkling wine was offered altho I was tired and didn’t partake. The room was beautiful and pictured below - a true suite vs the Dreamscape Studio at MP which is not a true suite. Note: we booked this room prior to the TSU adjustment to “partial ocean view” so we had a direct view which was beautiful.

I’ve enjoyed breakfast on all my stays and this was no exception.. I love the grains/superfood bowl with eggs added. I definitely recommend reservations for breakfast, we had to wait 15 mins on our first day and have had similar experiences other times. No wait with reservations.

A local friend and his wife came and joined me and I put them in a Guest of Honor booking at Mission Pacific. Their room was upgraded to the Dreamscape Studio. They raved about the property and I thought the MP finishes were somewhat higher end even though I preferred having the true suite at Seabird.

One note is the Seabird had setup a temporary makeshift kids room in one of their conference rooms with table tennis, a basketball shootout game, hula hoops, cornhole, giant Jenga, giant Connect Four, and Christmas movies. My 7-year-old son absolutely loved this room and I thought it was a great touch especially since the weather wasn’t perfect.

We visited “Craft Coast Beer & Tacos” based on recommendations in this thread and I thought the tacos were very good… better than Johnny Manana which is our usual hangout.

I already have my next stay booked for July and my family agreed this is one of our very favorite Hyatts.
