Would appreciate any clarity on this as I am seeing so much mixed information on this online. I booked 6 people on a flight together and I'm Platinum. It's a Basic Economy fare but AA site seems to say I maintain upgrade privileges. However I have no option for anything related to upgrades in my reservation. In particular, I would like a way to designate which companion I would like to upgrade with me if we should happen to clear. (DFW-JFK, maybe iffy, but flight is in 4 weeks and F is 0/8 right now.) Should I see something online? How will AA know who to upgrade with me if I don't have a way to select?
