Have a biz award from BKK to SFO on JAL and I was able to select a first class seat on the BKK to Tokyo segment for both passengers. Odd. I was limited to business class on Tokyo to SFO segment which is the class of service we redeemed for miles. Anyone have any experience with this? They have a 777 with an F cabin scheduled on the BKK/HND sector from 26 March 2023 but only sell Y and J, so they seem to be allowing J pax to select seats in the F cabin. Assuming they don't downgrade the aircraft to a 787 then you should get J service with an F seat.
