Personally, I wouldn't upgrade with miles but you do bring up an interesting point. It isn't one that I had considered before. Economically, though, it doesn't make sense in many cases since the lowest underlying fare eligible for a mileage upgrade is more than the sell-up fare into F.

I see what you mean. In my case It’s going to be better value to just purchase the FC to begin with and not use the miles add on to upgrade a main cabin fare.
