I'm sure somebody somewhere could waive a magic wand and make it happen the way the OP wants, but it wouldn't be a part of the standard way of doing things.

(and yes, I did manage to do the same thing once with a Hilton reservation, though it took a lot of work to make it happen. Anything is possible, but it certainly wouldn't be normal)
I have done it several times when there is a minimum stay. My globalist makes the changes, I don't do it online. It's well documented in the flyertalk thread in the case of the Andaz Maui.

If your concierge won't do it, get a new concierge.
