The circa 1990s story I heard about Pango Pango is that when the Continental 767 would arrive from HNL, "everybody" would go to the airport and watch who was getting off with their huge packages -- no jet bridge just walking down the stairs and across the tarmac to the "open air" terminal. In other words, almost a cargo cult going on there!
