It's good to see QR still offering a separate wine list in J, and I've always liked how they show an image of the bottle of each wine.
As is typical when on any QR flight, I chose the lemon mint as my pre-departure drink; it was nice to taste this after a pandemic-enforced 3 year break from flying QR.
Once in the air, service commenced with a pre-dinner drink service; I opted for a glass of the discovery white, which was served with warm nuts.
LHR was one of the first routes to resume full pre-pandemic service, with full table service (as opposed to tray service).
The amuse-bouche was fishy and pleasant, if unmemorable.
The tomato soup was thick and nicely flavoured, although the accompanying bread was rock hard.
The classic Arabic mezze was just as good as pre-pandemic.
The poached Atlantic salmon fillet with wild mushroom stew was a good choice, with the salmon itself being perfectly cooked. I could've done without the rock hard bread on the side of the plate.
My cheese plate was beautifully presented and was decently sized.
For dessert, I chose the flourless chocolate cake with cream Chantilly. This was very creatively presented; I love the black plates that QR use for many of their desserts.
Towards the end of the flight, I had a tea which was served with a box of Läderach chocolates.

The wine list for this flight was the same as on my outbound sector, shown above.
Naturally, this flight too commenced with a lemon mint.
After takeoff, champagne with warm nuts.
A salmon-based amuse-bouche; this was quite flavoursome.
To start, the seared beef with chermoula sauce was fresh and interesting, accompanied by a glass of the discovery white.
I normally opt for meat or fish-based main courses, but today chose the duo tear drop croquettes with vegan barbecue sauce. I wasn't sold on the barbecue sauce, but the rest of the dish hung together well with interesting textures.
Despite not being a huge ginger fan, I went with the dulce ginger and orange cake for dessert with a drop of the dessert wine.
A little later in the flight, I couldn't skip over the afternoon tea from the 'light options' section of the menu. Far from being light, this was a delicious end to a great flight, although I'm not sure why the sandwiches were presented to me wrapped up. As is often the case in flight, the bread had gone slightly stale at the edges, but this didn't detract from the course.
In summary, these were two excellent flights with Qatar Airways in Qsuite Business Class. It was great to be back onboard one of my favourite airlines, where catering and service - at least based on these two flights - hasn't suffered post-pandemic.
