I read Vol de Nuit many years ago when learning French, and it's a beautifully written account of early flying.

There is an excellent small display in Toulouse in "L’Envol des Pioneers" where his fascinating letters from the desert are presented as animations, and for those who only know him as the slightly twee author of le Petit Prince, there's a lot more to know and admire. "L'Envol des Pioneers" is very good anyway, if you're lucky you'll get grabbed by someone dressed as a mechanic who'll explain the details of the early postal and passenger flights.
