It was furnished very tastefully and everything in the suite (and the hotel) had an understated, but luxurious and sophisticated feel about it. The premier family room was spacious, but due to it's open nature, I'm not sure how well it would work for extended stays depending on your situation. Weirdly the premier family room has a sofa bed but the grand family room (which is much larger) doesn't and needs a rollaway bed for the 3rd adult.
Cons:
1. Most of the house car drivers we had (and also their airport pick-up) spoke no English, which I thought was strange. English isn't my first language either so I'm not at all saying everyone NEEDS to speak English, but I'd have thought that in a role where you are more than likely to face people who don't speak Korean on a frequent basis, the drivers would have spoken at least some broken English at the very least. On one occasion, we wanted to use the house car to go somewhere. We handed the address to the people at the bell desk, they got the house car and after 10 minutes of driving we realized he was not taking us where we wanted to go. We tried to explain this to the driver but he didnt understand and ultimately we ended wasting about an hour which meant we couldnt meet a friend as planned.
2. Sofa beds in both rooms were extremely uncomfortable even by sofa bed standards.
3. The food off the in room dining menu was mediocre.
4. I was really looking forward to experiencing Charles H while we were there. However, the service there left me feeling underwhelmed to the point where I wouldnt recommend anyone going there. Even with us sitting at the bar, the service was extremely cold, distant and infrequent. The server telling us that they were the best bar in Korea while giving us the bill after doing so poorly that night also didn't leave us with a great impression.
Overall though, it is a wonderful hotel and I would definitely stay there again.
Re: House car
I would agree that they should have some English or some sort of translation device because most Koreans wouldn't even think of using the house car. It's 99% going to be used for airport transfers and foreign tourists going to the sites.
There's a complacency and general malaise that comes straight from the top. Charles H was a top bar when Keith M was there but now it's just coasting on past accolades.
