You mean this: https://www.apple.com/shop/product/H...th-transmitter ? I though it worked with the first generation AirPods Pro. Try pairing it while at home before trying to use it on the plane. Some people even have this being used to pair with the Nintendo Switch, and after it works on the ground, it worked in the air.
