Thanks C-W-S. I did try adding hold baggage (Economy Plus) to the flight only selection but still took from O bucket.
May just bite the bullet and fly out in J, that's around an extra £100 or so over Y price but worth it to keep free long haul seat selection for another year. I invariaby fly J in LH so get loungw anyway.
