It's been noticeable the the CCR since the removal of the CCR card, that the 'offering' in the CCR has decreased. Now with the removal of the CCR JFK, GGL has been lowered again. (Maybe a sign of the things to come for all BAEC levels).
So perhaps, in hindsight that 'separate' level within Gold, was useful for BA to differentiate, as the number of customers involved was a lot lower.
If the CCR card was still around that may have also avoided the current situation in the Chelsea lounge re access and it's offering.
My initial thoughts were along the lines, 'what's the point it won't change anything'.
Just to isolate this for a second, the 'offering'; you're referring to has been the food and the cabanas? Food I believe was due to the chef who was 'pushing the limits' with their budget leaving? And the cabanas should have probably been gone a while ago given the state.
If there's more let's state these things for the sake of argument. But I don't think recent changes are the reason for these particular issues. As to why they haven't been addressed yet, you could have an argument and it's the same one I make for GGL treatment in JFK.
