That's not actually a stat. Those are numbers that circulated but are hard to verify and privileged information and which incidentally pertain to two entirely different periods of time. As we know, people who are GGL now include anyone who has qualified but also anyone whose status has been protected at any point since March 2020. We have zero idea what numbers would have been like pre-covid if people's status had been protected for 2 1/2 years...

Perhaps more importantly, however, those numbers are largely irrelevant. what matters are not card numbers but users numbers. One person using the CCR counts as 3 regardless of status, one person not using the CCR counts as 0 regardless of status.

The bottom line is that despite an excessive taste for discussing it, on FT, we do not have and have never had relevant data on either numbers for different status levels or consistent usage of any lounge beyond the occasional one of spying of expected usage sheets on specific days, none of which is recent. This is for good reason. Such information is immensely sensitive, and any of the few BA employees knowing the exact details leakng that info with non-privileged people such as FTers would very logically risk their job. Furthermore, dynamic modelling of usage and costs would require very precise stats (and a lot more elements than number of cardholders and daily useage) not approximations and partial info even if one could get that (we can't).

I have no problem with people feeling that current thresholds are fine or with people feeling that current thresholds need to be increased, but in both cases, that's basically based on what's happening within people's own heads additionally fed by various rumours and scoops. It's a discussion essentially made of thin air.
