The pricing of suites has always been that way, as far as I can remember. I agree it's odd. I have been upgraded to a studio suite once. Having now experienced it, I think the balcony suites are actually better as they have an outdoor area, which the studio suites do not. Both suites are, of course, not actual suites as they are just in single room (plus the bathroom).

This hotel is not known to be especially friendly to elites so I would think your chances of paying the difference are slim, but it certainly can't hurt to try. As for a comp to an executive suite, I reckon you're chances are zip. Given this hotel's approach to customer service, I'd be surprised if Courtesy Card holder didn't have to beg for one of those.
