well the thing is, we only used 5 days out of 10 days - because we didnt use the car for 5 days at all (unexpected), so we pay 5 * 28 USD for nothing

It's a customer rip-off, plain and simple. I suspect it will end in a class action suit in the near term.

It's the first time I have these kind of problems, I frequently rent at Hertz but this is just a scam. On their website it says, even if you "deny toll", there will be $9.99 a day maximum (plus the toll charge).
I can simply take back the money through AMEX by now, but I'll try to solve this issue first with hertz.. that's the question, is it hertz or platepass company responsile to this?
