The trick here is getting an agent who reads the email that actually knows what ORC is.
My experience is very few do and will quickly deny it saying the miles/MQDs already posted. I have spent months trying to claim it and ultimately gave up. However OP is 100% entitled to ORC based on the fare/routing he purchased, and in a case where it makes a difference on status (mine didn’t) it is worth pursuing. But be prepared to escalate and for it to take quite a while.
I would keep the email, short, concise, and mention ORC from the beginning.
And in a case like this where it matters to status, and next year is rapidly approaching, I might try via phone first. If denied you have a greater chance of escalating to a supervisor rather than playing the email game.
