I'm at 43,500 PQP (all UA metal), ORD based, and not a current GS, so based on what I'm hearing here seems like my chances are slim. I only started traveling again for work (premium cabin international, all UA metal) in May, so think I could probably get enough PQP to qualify next year, but would like to have the GS status to undertake it.

Do you know if they offer challenges for people who aren't already GS? I plan to call to ask for consideration if I don't get it as part of the January announcements. I've been 1K for over a decade and am ready for something incremental... the additional pluspoints over 1K qualification aren't really valuable to me.
