Budapest-Hawaii itinerary changes: return flight now leaving from a different island
Just wondering if anyone else has experience with this scenario, given that a good number of FTers must be doing a Budapest-Hawaii trip
I have a week on Kauai (LIH airport) in April. AA has retimed the LIH-LAX return leg such that all the subsequent flights (LAX-JFK-HEL-LHR-BUD) are not possible as I would miss the connection in LAX. So the system has rebooked me on a flight that will make the LAX connection and retain all the subsequent return flights. But from HNL instead of LIH
Flights from LIH-HNL appear to be fairly frequent and inexpensive, so in theory I could just add a 35 minute LIH-HNL hop to the start of my return and keep everything unchanged. But I wondered if I could ask BA to do this and make it part of the ticket so I'm protected for any misconnections? (Oneworld doesn't fly this route so it would involve a leg on Hawaiian)
The thought of adjusting the entire return journey over the phone with BA doesn't fill me with joy.
