Yes I do like learning about the mechanics of hotels, and airlines as well. Aside from a few GM's I know well, I more often have long term friendships with lounge managers and assistant managers. And loyalty program managers. And it is funny when they move to other hotel chains, or even other industries. One of the best hotel lounge managers I ever knew turned up one day managing an airline lounge. But since I, and I suspect you as well, have been doing this for so long, many of the GM's I knew in the past have taken their retirement.
