yup. Same thing happened to me. I had a hard case for my golf clubs. Baggage handlers ripped the handle off and took a huge chunk of the case with it. They then tapped the handle to the other one. Unfortunately it was the handle you grab to wheel the case, so it made it almost impossible to use. I took it to the baggage counter the moment I got it at the airport and initiated a claim for damaged baggage. Long story short, AA refused to give me a single cent because I didn’t have the original purchase receipt. This was even though I had evidence of what that exact case would cost as well as a receipt for the bag I purchased to replace it.
