We were scheduled to fly home from NYC on Christmas Eve and our flight from Laguardia to DTW was cancelled, The only notification we received from Delta was a text at 1:12 AM that said:
However, when I clicked on the two links I received (we were on AMEX Companion tickets and my wife and I had separate reservations each with one kid) I got the message:
This was on a link at passenger.tvlinc.com.
So they tried to be proactive, but it didn't work, which I figure I'm probably better off anyway since they who knows what they would have tried to give me for hotels.
What I think is going to make this tricky is that I ultimately cancelled the return tickets, they wanted us to fly home the 26th and 27th and I booked non-stop flights on JetBlue for the 25th for basically what I expect I'll get refunded from Delta (though we had first class tickets on Delta, at the end of the day getting home is what matters!).
I just got off the phone with the Medallion Line making sure our tickets were cancelled and refunded, at the end of the call I asked the agent about that and she said "Hotel and meal vouchers are provided by the airport", and I'm like "I was never at the airport!" then she said to email it.
The new hotel voucher online system only started back in summer. Not all agents are aware of it.
