Does the SQ website not show an allowance for your ticket?
Hi SilverChris. My understanding was that the MSC rule applied (was recalculated) for each separate leg of the trip (whenever there is more than a 24 hour stopover). Have I misunderstood that?

This leg is part of a much bigger ticket (four separate legs to get me around the world) but the trip does not start, end or stop for more than a few hours in North America. Only a transit stop at SFO on the second of the legs.

And unfortunately, when I "Manage Booking" on the SQ site, it says the AKL->SIN leg is "Cabin baggage only", which definitely can't be right.
