Excellent stay

Hi,

Apologies. Have not posted my stay report

Was able to check in at 1pm.
Got upgraded to a Molino Suite ( Rm 266) for my six night stay

Room faced the courtyard. There is some room renovation work going on ( rooms on the first floor were being renovated so to access the spa you had to go outside) There was some construction noise during the day and workers starting getting ready at 730am but I was up at 730 am to get a full day of sightseeing in venice and back at dusk when the workers stopped so did not bother me

Got a bag of small wafers and a 750ml bottle of prosecco ( in an ice bucket with glasses)
Room had a hallway ( bathroom off it) , living room and bedroom ( very nice)
Room well appointed and quiet
Separate bath and shower. Bathrobe & slippers provided. Nespresso machine also
Fitness centre good

Breakfast was very good with good staff ( cappucinos were good)
Full breakfast was free for diamonds ( you could pay extra for omelettes , etc). Whilst the hot food selection was not as extensive as in other hotels, the cold selection was very good and the cakes and pastries were excellent.

Executive lounge evening snacks ok ( had my main meal at lunch time)

Took the shuttle boat a couple of times ( usually took the no 2 vaporetto)- one evening we had a full moon and sitting in the bow of the vaporetto sailing into the full moon was beautiful

Ice cream in the lobby bar was good ( €4) and able to take to my room- nice to enjoy it in your room-

Had the Valpoilicella wine paring dinner on Friday at Barcaroma ( 3 courses for €60 or 5 for €90) Had a couple of welcoming drinks then one with each course ( Appetiser, Amuse bouche ( free extra) Main course and Dessert . The beef cheek for the main course was excellent ,and the chocolate dessert ( with sorbet) was excellent also. Overall a nice way to relax on my final night ( that day had heavy rain all day in venice) and pretty good value for money)

Liked the location ( lot quieter than around San Marco etc) and at night almost felt a bit eerie as you felt you were the only person around) although being on guidecca island may not be for everyone

Outdoor lights for christmas were put up during my stay with abseilers working from the top)

Nice christmas decorations inside

Hotel shop had reasonably priced 2023 venice calendars and hotel branded hats, polo shirts and sweaters

Hotel got busier towards the weekend ( overflow breakfast sitting area used when more people started arriving for breakfast ( ie generally after 9am)

Water taxi €140 to Marco Polo airport ( 30mins) and can charge to the room for an extra €2

Overall an excellent stay ( price was c €200 pn- have paid more for the doubletree edinburgh airport)

Weather mixed ( hard to avoid puddles on the pavement), 1 constant heavy rain day. 1 light shower day, 2 cloudy ( occasionally light fog first thing) and 2 beautiful sunny days ( could sit outside in the sun with a jumper)

Some renovation work on the basillca at St Mark's square and part of the Doge's palace exterior and part of St Marks square had materials being stored)

Venice is worth a visit at this time of year

Regards
