This functionality is for day of travel changes and doesn't apply to redemption tickets or to changes made before the day of travel. There is usually a change fee for amending redemptions, but there are sometimes customer guidance in place which allows a free change. If you don't see a ticket number in the BA app, and you've left it a few days, then you better call up.
