FYI: The new Maldivian Tourism Goods and Services tax effective 01 Jan 2023 goes to 16% from the current 12%. This will affect everything, including seaplane transfers. Just got a note - got a stay coming up on the 11th of Jan. New prices below
Amount for all prepayments done before 31 December 2022
Shared Seaplane transfer per adult (12 Years & above): US$ 780
Shared Seaplane transfer per child (2 – 11 Years): US$ 460
New Amount for all prepayments done after 01 January 2023
Shared Seaplane transfer per adult (12 Years & above): US$ 808
Shared Seaplane transfer per child (2 – 11 Years): US$ 480
Got a note from the hotel saying we could prepay the Seaplane transfers before 12/31 and get the current rate. Has anyone done this already? Wondering whether the prepayment posts to the hotel (specifically, trying to figure out if there's a benefit to using a Bonvoy credit card). TIA!
