It’s really a question of whether the strikes are sustainable.
Mass disruption (and associated misery for thousands of passengers) was the aim. Not only has this failed to materialise, but we’ve discovered that the job can be done better by Army replacements at short notice and with only basic training, which makes a mockery of the slow and miserable welcome which usually awaits at the UK Border.
A case in point: On Sunday, I connected in Terminal 5 from the EU to a UK Domestic. A lady at the E-Gates was experiencing some considerable difficulty while the officer assigned to supervise the area looked on silently.
