flying JFK to MIA this Sunday on a rev ticket connecting onto AXA on a points reservation ( separate ticket). Both on AA metal. Should be the same terminal. Have a 3 hour connection.

if I have issues checking in online for my international ticket (MIA to AXA), would I need to leave the secure area? I’ll have two small kids no checked baggage.
