I am 75k with Alaska and recently relocated to Reno. AA has far more options here than AS so I called AA to inquire about doing a status match to switch loyalty programs to American. Sharing the response in case it's helpful to anyone thinking of doing the same. The rep on the phone says that AA will only status match with United and Delta, not Alaska. She said I could purchase my way into equivalent status for $700, however, and then meet challenges to maintain it after that. Since I already enjoy reciprocal benefits through AS I declined. I'll just continue to credit my AA flights to AS and make sure I do the segments necessary to maintain my status there.
