Sounds like the same issue that
1nsane and I had with the AMS-SCL fare. Being full was probably just another bad excuse. Staff was also quite rude to me, even after the manager agreed (via phone) to make an exception.
Looking forward to your experience. Maybe the stopover in YYZ will cause the system to print "Signature" on the BP. But I would prepare for some discussion, maybe even print the rules from their website.
