My hotel shuttles over the past year have been full or close to it. Many of them stop at multiple hotels, and a few have started a charge. And all that time spent is going to exceed, several times over, the actual airport congestion, which the hotel shuttle will then suffer.
It’s not necessarily airport area roadway congestion that drives some of us to grab complimentary hotel shuttles to nearby hotels to meet people picking us up after arrivals at SFO.
Based on the signs of the SFO area hotel shuttle vans, it is usually pretty easy to know which hotel or hotels an arriving hotel shuttle van is serving.
If any of the hotel shuttle vans charge, they should be disclosing that before boarding a traveler and/or traveler’s bag(s). I’ve had no nasty surprises with this at SFO.
