I think it would be great if an SNA nearing expiration that was rejected was given an automatic extension to its expiration date. This should be a simple matter of programming if Marriott was actually willing to do it. Otherwise I am incentivized to try to use my SNAs early in the year on less than optimal opportunities in fear of not being able to use them at all.

As it stands today, I may end up using 4 of my 5 SNAs for next year in January if they all go through.
