If connection reliability is of huge concern, I'd always prefer LAX. Since SFO can't do parallel take-offs and landings without good visibility, delays happen easily. Rain or low clouds are common likely enough in April I wouldn't risk it personally. This is the biggest con of SFO to me. Nice facilities, but if weather goes to less-than-perfect after 10am delays start to stack.
