I have a flight on Friday night (AS677) when it is expected to turn to rain, but I'm a little worried knock on effects from other disruptions and snow won't be completely gone. There is a 6am flight on Saturday that will work for my schedule as well (though any 6am flight is not ideal IMO). I'm worried that if I wait until Friday and find the flight cancelled the Saturday flights will then be full.

I've heard in the past of occasions where people had double booked the same route on one day (in case they changed their mind), sometimes AS would cancel one. I don't think they would do that if I booked the flight for Saturday morning.

Any advice on booking backup travel plans on AS?

Also, AS is offering me $25 to change my flight from Friday night to another day. I don't think $25 is worth changing to a 6am flight or missing Christmas. But I do find it funny they are offering me flights on Thursday when the weather is supposed to be worse.
