Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Deluxe Room with Queen Bed + a Cot (No upgrade, 3rd party booking)
Rooms were modern and nice decor.
The shower had a door! Last HI I stayed at the shower didn't have a door and it didn't work well as water splashed out making the floor slippery.

How are the rooms?
Its a good enough size especially a cot had to be placed for the kid

What was good and what was bad?
Good
Location is good if you stay close to the main st or within that block.
Breakfast selection was very good with warm food. Kids eat for free!
Looks like its a new building so everything looks modern.
Staff were amazing!

Bad
Well, if you venture in the inner part of the area about 3mins walk, its the Red Light District and Drug users area. Needless to say not very nice..

Breakfast Hot food area is a bit inconvenient when getting food. There glass over it and there are 2 rows of pots and the back pot is not the easiest to access plus its one of those cast iron pots which can be heavy for some and there's no proper space to put the lid or your plate. For others that are tall can be challenging.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points?
Booked through AMEX Travel for my $200CAD Travel Credit, I would say its very expensive for a HI at $258CAD (WITH breakfast! I didn't know that Diamond got free breakfast, but I got welcome points), though there is the Christmas Market event and I booked it about a week before my stay. I needed to use my credit as it will expire in January 2023. Come to think of it, I think this is most expensive HI I have ever stayed at!

Would you return?
Yes, I would, but next year I would like to check out Mr. & Mrs. Smith (suggestion by nicolas75). Since price is similar and also much closer to the Christmas Market. After years of staying at IC Frankfurt, this is first time I stayed at a different hotel, in the area sadly...
