Nothing to add about the rest of this but... what was going on in that other passengers mind to choose to sit next to a 2 year old in preference to accepting a like for like window seat for window seat swap?! (Though 18k was the bulkhead with the narrower seat and no underseat storage? Still it's generally considered a good seat with the legroom)
