In the summer CP LHR T4 I had booked a room via points and they gave me a club level room but not access to the club.

When I asked about access it (key card didn't work) they gave me several different reasons inclusing

- I hadn't booked it direct - they looked sheepish when I pointed out it was a points booking.
- I wasn't diamond - same look when I showed them the app. They then said their system hadn't been updated for the new status levels but spire = diamond was too much for them to comprehend)
- they only gave it to people on their second visits
- It was fully booked but then
- I could have if for £30 a night which didn't jibe with it being full


I said to the manager who was also involved in some of that jiggery pokery that I hadn't expected or demanded access but the gymnastics he and his staff were going through were ridiculous.

If they had said right from the start 'we don't give club access to upgrades' then I would have accepted it but they didn't.


(Pre pandemic I was givem club room and access at the CP Manchester and the CP at Blackfriars (now no longer a CP / IHG). I was Plat for Manchester and Spire for London and had only booked basic rooms and had no expectedation of anything)
